One of the focuses of the World Social Forum in Brazil – the “alternative” to the Davos talks in Switzerland – is the damage being done to the environment in places such as the Amazon.

 So it’s no surprise that the construction of one of the world’s biggest dams in the rainforest is at the centre of a fierce debate about the price of economic progress, as Al Jazeera’s Gabriel Elizondo reports.
