Enjoy Nature At Parque Nacional Del Iguazu -Iguazu Falls

If you want to visit Argentina, then one of the best places to go to is the Parque Nacional del Iguazu. You will have the chance to see some breathtaking scenery that will leave you with something special to remember. Parque Nacional del Iguazu is listed as one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.

At the center of the park is a semi-circular waterfall that has a diameter of 2,700 meters. The waterfall goes to a breathtaking height of 80 meters. It is on the basaltic line that goes to the country’s border with Brazil. The Iguazu Fall is actually composed of 275 waterfalls covering over 4 kilometers.

Surrounding the waterfall is a subtropical rainforest that is home to different kinds of wildlife. Some of the wild animals found here are the giant anteaters, caymans, tapirs, howler monkeys, jaguars and ocelots.

Apart from these places, there are many other sites that you can visit and activities to do. Here are just a few examples.

Itaipu Hydroelectric Power Plant

This power plant is at the Parana River. Itaipu is a Guarani term that means ‘singing stones’. It is among the world’s largest power plants, having 20 generating units, each of which produces 700 MW.

Macuco Nature Trail

The park has a number of trails, and one that is not used often is the Macuco Nature Trail. The trail goes up to a special pool below a waterfall. This is among the few places where you are allowed to swim in the entire park.

You will have the opportunity to see some unique wildlife along the trail. You will see many lizards and butterflies. Some of the ants found here are unusually large. Although the chances are slim, be on the lookout for pumas or snakes along the path. The trail gives you the opportunity to have some quiet moments.

Boat Trip

If you go to the lower sections of the fall, you will have the chance to take a ride in a river boat, which will take you to the base of the waterfall.

You may also choose to take a wild ride in a large zodiac boat. Or you may decide to check out what you can find in the jungle. The road can be quite dusty, so it is a good idea to drive relatively slowly.

There are a number of things that you should be aware of as you take a tour of the Parque Nacional del Iguazu. Here are some of them.

– Never feed the animals, especially the coatis, which are referred to as the ‘thieves of the Iguazu’. It is also a crime to feed the monkeys.
